Bienvenue!
I made it to Brussels! I arrived at our orientation hotel yesterday at 4pm and orientation started at 5pm (needless to say very jetlagged). After a short orientation and welcome the group all went to a Belgian dinner with our program director. Great food - too bad I was too tired to enjoy it. But being tired didn't stop me from enjoying the Beer Festival that was in the Grand-Place. AMAZING! It was like a mini Oktoberfest. Lots of beer, lots of people, and tons of fun! We made friends with a group of very entertaining and friendly British guys. After the Beer Festival closed for the night the group of us (including the Brits) continued to party at the local bars. INSANE!! I didn't get back to the hotel until 5am and was awake by 8am for orientation. GREAT TIME
Today was another invigorating day of orientation. Not really sure what I was being oriented about but we had some time to walk around the Grand-Place before we were to meet with out host families. My host mom seems very nice and I'm also staying with another member of the program.
It has been a whirlwind three days and I am exhausted. Tomorrow our host mom is going to take us around the area where we are living to show us where the public transport is and how to get around.
I'm loving it, and I can't wait to see what's next.
